Croatia becomes a “no-kill” country

Yesterday the parliament of Croatia has voted a new law on the protection of animals. It has been the best international day of animal protection: in Croatia it is no longer allowed to kill animals in shelters. After 10 years, the new Animal Protection Act was expected, and along with many positive changes, animal protection associations and citizens can now celebrate the historical achievement of this Act: no more killings in Croatian shelters. The law also includes many other good provisions for the protection of animals such as the prohibitions of abusive behavior against animals, and bans on breeding of dogs, animal showings in circuses, capturing bears and dolphins and sex with animals.(croatian)
