Mandatory cat neutering in Brussels

The Brussels government was meeting this Thursday to make a decision on a new obligation for cat owners: all kittens and cats will have to be neutered as of January 2018.

There are about  140,000 cats in Brussels. Each year, the number of abandonments is forcing the shelters to kill more than a third of the kittens. After Wallonia, the Brussels Region is now making neutering compulsory,  to curb the number of abandonments and the proliferation of stray cats in the capital.(french)
