The Spanish Government wants to prevent the fraudulent sale of animals over the Internet

The spanish Minister of Agriculture has presented an Action Plan for the Responsible Ownership of Companion Animals.

The plan has been drawn up by a working group of experts and replaces the draft bill (2014)  establishing the basic regulations for trade and responsible ownership of dogs and cats. The 2014 draft has finally been parked due to a lack of consensus between autonomous communities, animalists and breeders, as the Government recently admited in a parliamentary response.

The plan includes the website '' with messages which  are intended to promote "awareness, responsibility and commitment to share our life with a animal companion ", as well as regulating the pet sector. (spanish)
